Microsoft Surface Pro: A Real Touchy Laptop

In June last year, Microsoft announced its first tablet with two products - Surface RT and Surface Pro. In Aug, Microsoft released its newest and greatest operating system Windows 8 to developers and IT Pros and later in Oct, it was made available to public. Surface Pro actually runs Windows 8 Pro operating system.

On Oct 26, Microsoft also introduced its first tablet, Surface RT to the world. Some analysts and experts called Surface RT a failed product including Apple CEO Tim Cook who called it a Compromised and Confused Product but some stories say it otherwise. Microsoft announced the Surface was sold out before it even hit retailers and Microsoft had to increase its production and distribution.

In any event, here we are. Microsoft is ready to announce Surface Pro on Feb 09 but it is already available at Best Buy and other retailers.

Surface Pro is loaded with better hardware and runs your all Windows applications. Think of it as a laptop with 4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB HDD, 17W Intel Core i5-3317U (Ivy Bridge) processor, Intel HD 4000 graphics card and a 3MB L3 cache.

One thing I am missing from it is, 4G LTE. It still can't replace my iPad. Sometimes I use my iPad to demo some products and demo in meetings and without 4G LTE, I can't use it if there is no Wi-Fi around.

Here are some of the key features Microsoft is promoting:

Now that's a damn powerful tablet. Forget Outlook and Office, I can actually run Visual Studio and SQL Server on this Tablet. How cool is that?
