Choosing between LINQ and ADO.NET

I see this question a lot on the forums.

If you’re building a data driven Windows or Web application using .NET, you will have to make a choice between the original .NET data access library ADO.NET or newer integrated query language, LINQ.

I am not going into too much internals of these libraries. I will just get straight to the point.

I was born as a farmer and lived in a village farm until 18 years of age. When I was growing up, we had bulls to cultivate our farm. Later, we bought is tractor.

You’ve been cultivating your farm with bulls (ADO.NET) with your whole life and now out of sudden, you have a choice to use a tractor (LINQ).

Choice is yours!
