iOS 5 Got Me Thinking

As we all know, I am not an Apple guy. I am 100% Microsoft guy. That said I am never shy to look at other things out there and praise them (if they deserve).

Recently, I've been involved in learning iPhone development using MonoTouch and hence I had some interest in iOS. iOS is the operating system that runs iPhone and iPad devices and make they what they are today.

iOS 5 is coming this fall and Apple just announced over 200 new features added to the OS. iOS 5 is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3rd/4th Generations, iPad, and iPad 2.

Here is a list some of the key features:

  • All your alerts in one place, Notification Center.
  • Better messaging using iMessage. Now you can send any number of text, photos, videos, locations, and contacts.
  • Custom newsstand for your subscriptions of ebooks.
  • Improved calendar and reminders.
  • Build to tweet. Better integration with twitter.
  • Improved and easy access for camera options
  • And much more ..
