Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider
Posted By Naeem Khan on 06 Feb 2011
Hi,

I am using the following connection string to connect:

<add name="MySql" connectionString="Data Source=YourServerName;
Database=YourDataBase;User ID=YourUserID;Password=YourPassword;"
providerName="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" />

But, I am getting the following error message while I am trying to connect MySQL through .NET.

Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider.

Can someone help me to sort out the issue?

Regards,

Naim Khan

hi
don't write MySql provider name
you can write System.Data.OleDb   or System.Data.ODBC
i think this is helpful u.

Naim,

Best and simple way to find a connection string.

Drag and drop a DropDownlist, Select/Click on DataSource, Select the DB, Bind Columns and Finish.

Now you will get the actual Connection String.
