Out of box Survey Rating Scale issue

Question

I have created a survey using out of box feature in sharepoint 2010. For a rating scale question i need to have ratings from 0 to 5 and not the default 1 to 6. I made use of javascript code and managed to change the ratings but only on the front end. Internally the values get stored as 1 to 6 only. How to change this internal setting?
