How .NET communicates with javascript

Hi all there,

I have a doubt here that as we know javascript is handled in client(browser)side but we can call javascript from serverside and also javascript can get session value or hiddenfield value(server side), hence i need to understand where is the place(actually assembly) in .NET that manages the communication between javascript and .NET.
