sub report

Question

i want to know about sub reports,how to design and use and where the query has to put,
i have values in 2 tables which contain  non matching rows(one contain 2 rows and other contain 3 rows).i need these values in crystal report.i got all values in data set, but not in report record data...is here sub report necessary?
