In this article, we will explain the process to schedule the automatic shutdown of the operating system Windows 8. Automatic shutdown is one of the features of the Windows operating system which makes your computer secure. Generally, we prefer our system to properly shut off every time to lengthen the operating system's life. But sometimes when you work on your computer late at night it is really hard to remember to shut it off your computer; in those cases, you should use the automatic shutdown scheduler on your computer. The Windows operating system has a program known as shutdown.exe to perform this automatic task.
 
So here we will talk about Windows 8 and the whole process to schedule the automatic shutdown of your computer.
 
Step 1
 
Open the Metro screen of the Windows 8 application and click on the search.

Now go to the settings option and write schedule tasks in the search box; on the left-hand side of the screen the schedule tasks application will show; click on it.

A new popup window will open off the tasks scheduler.
 
Step 3
 
Click on create a basic task from the list of actions that will be shown on the right side of the popup window.

A new window will open to create basic tasks wizard; give the name of the action you want to perform and click on the Next button.

Now you select when you want to execute your action from the list of options and click on the Next button.

Also, set your date and time to schedule the action as you want and click the Next button.

Select the radio button to start a program and click the Next button.

Just put Turn off in the script box, and click the Next button.
