Introduction

This article explains how to update Virus Protection and Windows Defender in Windows 8. If your Windows Defender is out of date then you can update it. An updated antivirus provides better security. Windows Defender provides the Spyware scanning capabilities. It is based on Giant AntiSpyware and it was originally developed by Giant Company Software.

Microsoft released a new version of Windows Defender with added antivirus features in Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Windows 8 provides the Windows Defender with new antivirus features. Microsoft Defender formerly known as Microsoft AntiSpyware. It is a software product from Microsoft to prevent, remove and quarantine in Microsoft Windows.

How to Update Virus Protection and Windows Defender in Windows 8

Step 1 : In the Windows 8 OS, you can move the cursor on the bottom-right and click on the search box. In the search box, you can specify what you want.

Step 2 : In the search box, you can type the name Control Panel and click on the Control Panel.

Step 3 : In the Control Panel, you click the drop-down menu arrow in the category tab and select the "Large Icons"

Step 4 : In this step, you click on the Action Center.

Step 5 : In this step, you click either on the Update Now Button for "Virus Protection" or on the "Spyware and unwanted software protection" under the System, whatever you want. If your Windows Defender is out of date then click on the Update Now Button. You click on the "find an app online" for download and install antimalware applications from the Microsoft official website.
