Creating One Way Incoming Realm Trust For One Side of Trust

Introduction

In this article I will create One Way Incoming Realm Trust for one side of a trust.

There are two types of trusts; the first one is a "Realm Trust" and the the other one is "Forest trust". Here we will create a Realm Trust.

Step 1

First of all open the Administrative Tools from the Start menu.

In the Administrative Tools Wizard a list of installed items will be available, here an option will be available named Active Directory Domains and Trusts, double-click on it to open it.

Now the Active Directory Domains and Trust Wizard will be opened, here "Domain Node" will be available on the left hand side in the ADDT Pane.

Step 2

Right-click on the Domain Node and click on it's Properties.

Now the Property Window will be opened, here by default the General tab will be opened.

Step 3

Click on the "Trusts" Tab available beside the "General" Tab and then click on the "New Trust" Tab.

Now the New Trust Wizard will open, here first some information about the trust will be provided, click on the next tab to start adding the trust.

Step 4

On the next page provide the name for the trust and then click on the "Next" button.

On the next page you need to select the type of trust, click on the first option to choose "Realm Trust".

Step 5

On the next page you will be asked to select one of the options for "Trust Transitivity", click on the first option, in other words "Non Transitivity"; this will cerate a Trusted Relation between the domain and the specified realm.

The next page is for the direction of the trust, click on the second option, in other words "One Way Incoming", this will authenticate the users in the Specified Domain.

Step 6

Provide a password to confirm the relationship, confirm your password and then click on the "Next" button.

Now a brief description of your selection process will be shown to you, click on the "Next" button to reach the final page of the process.

The final page will just ask for the Final Confirmation and you can provide that by clicking on the "Finish" button.
