How to Enable Windows Server 2012 to Open .XPS File

Introduction

In today's article you will learn how to enable Windows Server 2012 to open a .XPS File.

To enable the Windows Server 2012 to open a .XPS file you need to install the XPS Viewer.

The following is the procedure to install the XPS Viewer.

Step 1

First of all login to your Windows Server 2012 as an Administrator. The Server Manager will be opened automatically, if it doesn't open then you must open it manually.

Now in the Server Manager click on the Manage Button to open the "Add Roles and Features" to add the new feature.

Step 2

Now a new window will be opened in which a few instructions are given, click on "Next".

You will then be asked for the "Installation type" from which you must to select the first option and then click on "Next".

Step 4

Now you must select the server from the Server Pool. Since I have only one server in the Server Pool, my server is selected by default.

After selecting the server click on "Next".

Step 5

Now a List of "Rolls" will appear in front of you, from this list you don't need to select anything, simply click on "Next".

Step 6

On the next page "Features" will be available for selection, scroll down to the end, there you will find an option for "XPS Viewer". Select this option.

Now click on "Next".

Step 7

Now a "Confirmation page" will appear in front of you. This page shows what you are going to install, so on this page only one option would be shown, i.e. XPS Viewer.

Step 8

Now Click on the "Install" button to start the installation. It will take a few minutes depending on the performance of your system.
