How to Install Windows Server Backup Feature

Introduction

In today's article you will learn about how to install the Windows Server Backup Feature in Windows Server 2012.

The Windows Server Backup feature creates a backup file of the System State/Active Directory, you need to first install it before creating a backup using it.

Step 1

First of all login to your Windows server 2012 as Administrator, when your login is completed the Server Manager will be opened automatically, if it doesn't open then you must open it manually.

Now in the Server Manager click on the Manage Button to open the "Add Roles and Features" to add the new feature.

Now a new window will be opened in which a few instructions are given, click on "Next".

Now you will be asked for the installation type from which you must select the first option and then click on "Next".

Now you need to select the server from the Server Pool. Since I have only one server in the Server Pool, my server is selected by default.

After selecting the server click on "Next".

Now a list of Rolls will appear in front of you but here you don't need to select anything. Just simply click on "Next".

Step 6

On the next page a list of features will be available for selection. From here you must select "Windows Server Backup" and then click on "Next".

Now on the next page you will be asked for permission to do a restart, after which the server will be restarted if it sees any requirement for it.

Click on the "Install" button to start the installation process.

Step 8

Now your installation will begin, close this window on successful installation.

On the right upper side of the Server Manager you will get a notification in the form of a flag.

Open the Flag Mark to get confirmation that your feature is successfully installed.
