How to Share a Drive Using Windows Interface

Introduction

This article explains how to share a drive using the Windows Interface.

Using this article you will be able to share a drive between many users that are on another network.

Step 1

First of all open the "Computer Management" from the Start Menu of your system.

Now your Computer Management Window will be opened that will look like this:

Step 2

On the left hand side of Computer Management you will see that many options are available, one of them will be named "Shared Folders", expand this option.

After expanding right-click on the "Shares" and choose to "New Share".

Step 3

Now the Shared Folder Wizard will be opened, on it's default page some information will be provided about the Shared Folder Wizard, you need to click on the "Next" button to start the process for sharing the drive.

On the next page click on the "Browse" button to follow the path to the drive or folder to be shared. After providing the path click on the "Next" Button.

But as you have selected the drive to be shared, it will show a warning message for that. Click on "Ok" to approve the sharing.

Step 4

On the next page a name for this Shared Drive needs to be provided, then you can click on the "Next" button.

Now you need to provide the Shared Folder Permission that will specify what type of Accessing powers are provided to the user by which they can either only Read this Folder or can make changes in it as well.

Now you will see that this Drive is available under the Shared Folders.
