Disable Startup Apps in Windows 8

Windows 8 starts several apps every time you restart it. Some of these apps may take a while and you will have to wait until these processes kick in. As a matter of fact, some of these apps you may not even care for. For example, on my Windows 8 laptop, Microsoft Lync starts automatically which I never really use. So you can disable these apps.

In this article, you will see how we can disable startup apps.

Open Task Manager by going to WIN+Q and type Task Manager in the app search text box. Alternatively, you can hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and select Task Manager from the list.

Once the Task Manager is launched, you can view and manage Startup apps on the Startup tab. On the main screen, you can see the current running apps, process, and background processes. You will also see how much CPU, memory and disk space these apps and processes are consuming at the moment,
