Manage Features On Web Applications In SharePoint 2013 Central Administration

These features, when activated or deactivated on the Web Application, will reflect on all the site collections and sites.

How to manage the features

Let’s open Central Admin of SharePoint on your machine. On your Windows desktop screen, click Start >> Administrative Tools >> SharePoint 2013 Central Administration.


  • Run it as an administrator to have elevated privileges.
You will see the screenshot given below.


  • Central Admin is configured under the categories given below. Click on "Application Management".

  • Go to Web Applications >> Manage web applications.
  • You will see the screen, given below.



  • Here, we can see various options to work with the web applications.
  • Let’s see them from left to right in different parts of the article.

We have four categories, where the events have been categorized.

  1. Contribute
  2. Manage
  3. Security
  4. Policy

In this part, we will see “Manage Features” under the "Manage” category.

Manage Features


  1. Select the Web applications and click on " Manage Features".
  2. You will see the screen below.







Features

  • Apps that require accessible internet facing endpoints
    When you activate this feature, it will allow users to install the apps from the SharePoint Store that require internet facing endpoints.

  • Document Sets metadata synchronization
    When you activate this feature, this helps you to provide the infrastructure to sync the metadata sets.

  • SharePoint Server Enterprise Search
    Use SharePoint server search feature to get search results from people profiles, business data, remote and custom content sources.

  • SharePoint Server Enterprise Web application features
    You can use this feature to activate the Visio Services, Access Services, and Excel Services Application on the web application.

  • SharePoint Server Site Search
    You can activate this feature for site and list searches on the site.

  • SharePoint Server Standard Web application features
    You can activate this feature for basic user profile and site search under the standard license.

Once you configure these features, these will reflect on all the site collections under this web application.
