Migrate List template from SP 2010 to SP 2013

Question

I've a list with data in a SharePoint 2010 and i need the same in SharePoint 2013. The list contains the lot of items with the versioning. I tried saving the list as a template and used it in SharePoint 2013 but the system is throwing an error. 

Can anyone tell me how to get the list from SP 2010 to SP 2013 along with the versions ?
