Password Encryption

Question

I am quiet unknown about modern technologies regarding encryption to use for securing my password. I have created a desktop app using visual studio 2012 (C#) and an android app connecting through mysql . So I have to encrypt username and password and what will be the best solutions. I would like to ask for sample techniques and codes to make my android app fruitful through encrypting through c# on desktop app.
