Apple Introduces AirPods

Apple, today launches AirPods, the new wireless headphones. AirPods remove the hassles of wireless headphones; all you need to do is flip open the lid of its charging case and with just one tap, they are all set up and ready to be used with your iPhone and Apple Watch.

The advanced sensor instantly knows when you are listening to the music and when you are not, and accordingly, it automatically plays and pauses the music. AirPods also allow you to gain the access to your favorite personal assistant with a double tap. This experience has been enabled by the new ultra-low power Apple W1 chip which goes on to enable AirPods to deliver high-quality audio, along with the best battery life in a completely wireless design. This device will be available in the market from late October.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s Sr. Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, states,

“AirPods are the first headphones to deliver a breakthrough wireless audio experience, and with the new Apple W1 chip they deliver innovative features including high quality sound, great battery life and automatic setup. AirPods are simple and magical to use, with no switches or buttons, automatically connecting to all your Apple devices simply and seamlessly, and letting you access Siri with just a double tap. We can’t wait for users to try them with iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2.”

It is really easy to use the AirPods. All you need to do is just open the charging case near your iPhone, and with just a tap, AirPods will immediately set up with the entire devices signed into your iCloud account, including your Mac and iPad.

Apple in its official blog states,

“AirPods are connected and ready to go when you are, just put them in your ears when you want to listen. AirPods can intelligently and seamlessly switch from a call on your iPhone to listening to music on your Apple Watch.”

Apple’s latest W1 chip is present in AirPods, with dual optical sensors and accelerometers, in all AirPods that work with the W1 chip so as to be able to detect when are the AirPods in your ears. This way, they will only play music when you are ready to listen. In order to pause the music, all you need to do is remove them, or simply remove one in order to have a conversation. The music will automatically resume, as soon as you put it back.

You can also access Siri with a double tap to your AirPods, so as to select as well as control your music, change the volume, check your battery life, or perform any other Siri task. Additionally, accelerometer, present in each AirPod, detects when you are speaking, and it enables a pair of beam-forming microphones to focus on the sound of your voice, filtering out external noise to make your voice sound clearer than before.

The company states,

“The ultra-low power Apple W1 chip operates at one-third of the power of traditional wireless chips, enabling AirPods to deliver up to 5 hours of listening time on one charge. The custom-designed charging case holds additional charges, for an industry-leading more than 24 hours of total listening time,* ensuring AirPods are charged and ready to go whenever you are.”

AirPods require Apple devices running on iOS 10, watchOS 3, or macOS Sierra. This device will be available for $159 (US) only.
