Apple Release Fifth Developer Betas Of iOS 10, watchOS 3, macOS, and tvOS 10

Apple has released its fifth developer version of the iOS 10 beta build along with the new betas for watchOS 3, macOS and tvOS. With this current release, it seems that we are coming closer to the final public build of iOS; the probability is that there will be one or two more betas before the final release, which is expected in September.

While the first betas came with numerous bugs, which were expected, Apple has fixed the bugs and the broken bits with every beta release. In the recent iOS beta 5, the company has gone ahead and addressed several issues regarding iOS’s interaction with Apple TV, in-app purchases in the App Store, iMessage, Bluetooth, the Phone and Wallet apps along with the accessories.

However, there are few changes with the iOS build, which have been discovered by the early testers. iPhoneHacks reports that the AI and the facial recognition data, which is available in the Photo app has been reset, which is the reason behind the process taking place in the new scanning.

Additionally, the music Control Center has also been tweaked. The Today view now goes on to include the data and day. The widgets have gained darker backgrounds and there is also a new lock sound.

iOS beta 5 also ships with Swift Playgrounds, the “learn to code” app for the kids, which Apple introduced at WWDC 2016. The app comes with Learn to Code part 1 and 2. Along with the additional challenges which can be explored by the users, you can now also create your own playgrounds. Based on the templates, create a blank playground or open playground in Xcode.

The app consists of new Graphing templates in addition to the Shapes, Blank templates and Answers.

As per the Apple’s release notes, Voicemail transcription is now available on iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE with Siri language set to English.

However, it has been seen that there are still FaceTime issues involving calls between this beta and macOS beta being broken, and ‘Recently Played” in “For You” in Apple Music is not refreshing instantly. There are also some issues with Notes, which is quitting unexpected, along with other minor bugs.

However, if you are curious to know what is new in the other platforms, now, macOS Sierra goes on to bring Siri to Mac. The Photos app has been updated. Safari now has a picture-in-picture for the video and many more. The WatchOS 3 is a major update, as it now offers the redesigned user interface with faster launching apps and no more Friends screen. The Apple TV’s tvOS update is not a major one, but it now comes with dark mode and sign-on for TV Everywhere apps. It can now also act as HomeKit hub.

The new betas are identified with the following build numbers:
  • macOS Sierra beta 5 (16A286a)
  • iOS 10 beta 5 (14A5335b)
  • watchOS 3 beta 5 (14S5315a)
  • tvOS 10 beta 5 (14T5321a)
  • Xcode 8 beta 5 (8S193k)
