Deepin 2014 Beta Operating System Released For Testing Purposes

Released today and now available for testing, the superb OS, Deepin 2014 Beta, is a distribution based on Ubuntu and is being developed in China. This Deepin Linux distribution is intended for normal users and professionals alike, uses a desktop environment of its own and is focused on providing the best possible user experience. The release announcement states, “Deepin is a distribution that aims to provide an elegant, user-friendly, and stable operating system. The Deepin team has developed the new Deepin Desktop Environment based on HTML 5 technologies. The Deepin operating system has also shipped many other featured applications, including Deepin Music Player, DPlayer, Deepin Software Center etc.”

The first Alpha of Deepin was released earlier and made quite an impact and considering all the feedbacks from the community, introduced some important changes, that should be easily visible now right from the start.

“Since Deepin 2014 Alpha was released, we have received warm feedback and suggestions from all around the world. Many tweaks and improvements have been made accordingly. In this release, we have simplified user selection in the login manager and added effects for the Dock and the Launcher. Besides, the theme features in light tactile impression in Deepin2014 Beta. System trays are added in the Dock, which have made the system more elegant and improved the operating efficiency,” also notes the announcement.

The Deepin Control Center has also received some improvements and has been made more stable, in addition to getting new features, such as the VPN connection, Bluetooth, hidden network connection, broadband connection and fixed IP. The main repository will provide the latest versions and has been updated for most of the applications. The repository comprises 60 different mirrors, allowing the users to find the one with the best possible speed. Several new default applications, such as a font viewer, Gparted and Shotwell have also been implemented.
