Facebook Cuts Off Friend-Finding Access to Vine

The specificity of the error message is intriguing; it almost looks as though the Vine app was already set up to explain a situation like this. The Verge reports, Facebook and Twitter have long been battling each other over access to user data; this past July, Twitter similarly blocked Instagram from using its own.

In the short term they want total control of the platform. Locking out others from monetizing what they helped to build. It seems that App.net just became much more attractive. Neither company has explained the reasons behind this most recent change, but the timing certainly suggests a direct link to new policies.
