Google joins OpenStack

Google is joining the OpenStack Foundation as a sponsor. The OpenStack Foundation is a community known for creating an open-source infrastructure-as-a-service for enterprises to manage private and public clouds. Google joins other sponsors including Alcatel-Lucent, Citrix, Comcast, Cray, GoDaddy, Fujitsu, Oracle, SAP, Nokia and the Linux Foundation.

The OpenStack Foundation manages OpenStack. OpenStack is an open source cloud operating system that controls large pools of compute, storage, and networking resources throughout a datacenter, all managed through a dashboard that gives administrators control while empowering their users to provision resources through a web interface.

As a sponsor, not only does Google give cash to the foundation, it will also be helping making containers as a part of the OpenStack initiative.
