A report from The Verge claims that Microsoft will likely launch the next Xbox code-named Xbox Durango, at a special event on May 21. Although some were expecting to see Microsoft debut a new Xbox system this month, it now appears that the company’s Xbox event will actually take place later, Paul Thurrott said that the event scheduled for April 24th will actually occur on May 21st.

Microsoft is currently aiming to hold the event May 21, though it was previously scheduled for April and could change again. The company is eager to announce the new console before E3, the big video game conference beginning June 11. While nothing is assured until Microsoft publicly acknowledges the event.

The console may be called Durango or simply “Xbox.” It may be upgradable. It may require a persistent Internet connection to even use. All will be revealed at the end of May, and it looks like there will be more to come at Microsoft’s BUILD conference in June.
