New Improved Features For Outlook On iOS And Android

Microsoft announced new features, with better experience, for Outlook on iOS and Android. Let us have a look at the new features, as per the official blog.

Stay connected with Interesting Calendars

Just a few months back, Microsoft introduced Calendar App which would allow you to stay connected to your favorite apps, such as Wunderlist, Facebook, and Evernote—to your calendar.

Microsoft states that it is their goal to provide users with a complete and clear view of their daily events, tasks, and notes, all summarized in one place.

Microsoft has gone on to take a step forward by adding Interesting Calendars, which would allow you to subscribe to your hometown sports team’s calendar as well as to see the events which will automatically pop up in your calendar. The company also stated that very soon, TV shows and more will follow.

Interesting Calendar is now available to Outlook for iOS users with an Office 365 email address, and it will soon be available for Android too. Users with an Outlook.com email address will now be able to subscribe, later this year, with Gmail and other accounts to follow.

Add personality to your agenda with event icons

Try typing “coffee” or “lunch”, next time you create an event, and you will see that the keywords automatically trigger an icon that matches your event title. Icons are very handy when you want to scan your day swiftly, and see what is coming up. And according to Microsoft, “they’re fun.”
For Sunrise users, the company has gone on to add new icons on top of the regular list.

Know where you need to go with maps in event details

When you make an event, type the location of the place of your appointment, and choose one of the handy suggestions. Outlook will add a map along with your event details.

Now, before you start to leave for your appointment, check the event and simply tap on the map present in the event details, you will get direction from your favorite maps app.

Schedule quickly with improved date and time pickers

Microsoft has updated the date and time pickers so as to make scheduling more simple than before. The new design goes on to provide a simpler and more intuitive way in which to select the date as well as time while creating a meeting, matching on how Outlook works on the web or desktop.

Update meetings on the fly with recurrence editing

Recurring meetings can be edited from your mobile device. Now you can adjust the time, location, attendees or even delete the event if necessary while on the go. Outlook confirms if you’d like your changes to apply to the individual instance or all the meetings in the series. We will be adding the ability to create recurring events in an upcoming update.

Meetings on the go now easier with Skype for Business

By following Skype integrations, you will now be able to create Skype for Business meetings directly from your phone while creating a new event on your Office 365 calendar, and now the option for adding Skype meeting has also been included. All you need to do is simply tap on the Skype Meeting toggle and Outlook will go on to include your company’s Skype information in the description of the event. When the meeting arrives, you will be able to join the call, with just a tap.

Microsoft concluded by saying,

“Let us know what you think of our new calendar features! We’re not stopping here in our quest to provide you with the best calendar experience on iOS and Android. If you have other ideas for what would make the calendar experience even better for you, let us know right from Outlook by going to Settings > Suggest a Feature.”
