OpenDNS testing security system to detect computer crime web sites and domains

OpenDNS is currently testing the new security system Natural Language Processing rank (NLPRank) to quickly detect computer crime web sites and domains. OpenDNS is a company specializing in Domain Name System (DNS) lookups. OpenDNS offers a secure DNS service that blocks requests from web browsers to sites that may dangerous. The NLPRank system uses a variety of indicators to attempt to determine if a domain name or website is suspicious.

For domain names the system can check it for containing suspicious names or phrases or if it contains other suspicious text such as g00gle.com where the digit for zero is used instead of the letter O.

For web sites more sophisticated checks can be done, such as determining if a web site is in the same network as the company or organization usually uses. The HTML contents of a web site is also checked for anything suspicious.
