Preview Version Of Skype Integration For Slack Now Available

Skype has released a preview version of Skype integration for Slack that helps its users team up on Slack and make voice or video calls on Skype.

Skype in its official blog post states:

“Today we’re releasing a preview version of Skype integration for Slack that lets teams on Slack easily make a Skype voice or video call and reach conclusions faster.”

The company informs us that if you and your team are using Slack, "a new choice of real-time communication," you will still be able to access the familiar and trusted voice and video calling from within Slack. In order to set up the integration, you simply need to visi the Skype integration for Slack product page and click on the option of Add Slack, to complete your setup.

Once the Slack integration is configured, anyone on the Slack team can make a Skype call from the computer, all you need to do is type “/skype” into the chat, and when the call is set up, a join link will appear. Slack can be used on Web, Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, and no matter which one your team member uses, you will never miss a call again; you will receive a Slack notification when a Skype call starts. When you need to start a new call, all you need to do is type “/skype” into the chat again, which will set up a new call for others to join.

In order to join the Skype call, all you need is a Web browser on your desktop, or you can also get Skype mobile apps to connect from your smartphone. You can also join as guest from your PC or sign in with a Microsoft account or Skype name.

Skype states:

“We’re excited to introduce the preview of the integration to teams on Slack and we can’t wait to let you try it.”
