Red Hat Is Offering No-Cost Red Hat Enterprise Linux To Developers

Currently, Red Hat is offering a no-cost RHEL subscription as part of its Red Hat Developer Program. This is as a self-supported, non-production developer subscription. The RHEL Developer Suite offers programmers a steady development platform in order to build enterprise-ready applications.

As stated to ZDNet by a Red Hat spokesperson,

"This is a first for Red Hat, and is a similar approach to what we did with our Middleware portfolio in 2014. This makes it available to developers at no cost. What we've effectively done is given developers an enterprise-ready stack from the start -- using RHEL + JBoss from the get-go, this should help accelerate next-generation application development and speed up the delivery of these applications."

Members of Red Hat Developer Program will also be able to gain a free copy of the Red Hat JBoss Middleware portfolio as part of its Red Hat Developer Program.

If you are building cloud native applications or microservices, this new development subscription will also provide you to access to the Red Hat Container Development Kit (CDK). This is the curated container development tools and resource collection of Red Hat.

CDK users will also be able to acces thes RHEL Server along with a local desktop instance of OpenShift Enterprise for the use of development.
