Skype For Business Now Available On Android

Today, Microsoft launches Skype for Business app for Android. Android users with Lync 2013 will be able to get automatic update to Skype for Business app based on the setting of their device.
 
Microsoft in their official blog states,
 
“Today, we’re pleased to announce availability of the Skype for Business app for Android. Over the past few months, we received valuable feedback from people participating in the preview program and we’re excited to make the new app broadly available so that everyone can be more productive while on the go.”

Skype for Business was launched in April and it gained dedicated Windows Phone app in July. The iOS version of Skype for Business was launched in October and Microsoft promised that the Android version will soon be available before the year ends. The company has now launched Skype for Business for Android, with only two weeks before the year ends.
 
Let us now look at some of the features in Skye For Business for Android:
  • Tailored for on-the-go scenarios: A new dashboard design would bring the contact search bar, your upcoming meetings and your recent conversation. All you need to do is tab the Quick Join icon, which is available to the right of your appointment name to join your meetings. To know the details of the meetings, tap the meeting’s name. Now your recent conversation will be always available with you, n matter which device you earlier had the conversation. The full screen video along with the call-control buttons to mute, along with adding participants to the meeting, now makes it easier for you t collaborate even while you are on the go.
  • Better contact management: The contact search bar allows you to search your Global Address List by your name, phone number or email. You can also search for contacts within your organized group on Skype for Business. You can also add as well as remove any contact of your choice.
  • Additional authentication and security options: The Skype for Business on Android now supports modern authentication. This is utilized by other Office clients and it allows consistent authentication experience for users.

The company states,
 
“Modern authentication also enables IT admins to configure multi-factor authentication for users of the Skype for Business Android app, increasing the security beyond just a user name and password. With multi-factor authentication, users are required to acknowledge a phone call, text message or an app notification on their device after correctly entering their user name and password.”
