Skype For Web Can Now Be Used Without An Account

Microsoft has gone on to announce a small but really significant update to Skype for Web – Guest accounts. Now, you will be able to easily start a Skype conversation without signing up for an account.

In the official blog of Skype, the company states,

“Today, we’re excited to announce that we’ve made it easier than ever for you to connect with anyone on Skype, without needing to register or even download it. By joining Skype as a Guest, you can quickly chat, voice or video call without any hassle. Perfect if you’re new to Skype and want to quickly chat with someone, anywhere in the world, for free.”

Skype for Web beta arrived in November 2014, and the service has been launched out of beta in June 2015. This year, the company has gone on to add more features and is currently working on removing the plugin requirement.

Skype for Web has now made it possible for users to use its service without downloading Skype. Now, Skype for Web allows you to chat as well as make voice and video calls without signing up for an account.

All you need to do is go to Skype.com, click on start conversation, and add your name. After this, you will be provided with a link that you will be able to share with whoever you want, through social network or email. Anyone who clicks that particular link will be able to join, using their Skype app, or as a Guest if they use Skype for Web. You can also invite around 300 people to chat and around 25 people for a free voice or video call.

The conversation that you make through Skype for Web is set to last for 12 hours. However, you want to use other features such as call a particular phone number, translate a conversation in real-time with Skype Translator, continue the conversation for a longer period, then you will need to login or get a Skype account.

This seems like an incredible addition to the Skype service.
