Support Period for Ubuntu 13.04 Ends Later This Month

Ubuntu announced on its official blog post, that the Ubuntu 13.04 distribution of the Linux operating system, also known as Raring Ringtail, will reach its End Of Life (EOL) on Monday, January 27, 2014, since Canonical (the parent company of Ubuntu) will no longer offer security/critical fixes and software updates for it.

Ubuntu 13.04 was announced nearly 9 months ago, April 25, 2013. It was the first release to espouse the latest, far shorter support window of just nine months. Ubuntu 13.04 initiates the flavor of GNOME the first time since it is powered entirely by the GNOME 3 desktop environment.

Users of Ubuntu 13.04 must upgrade to an up-to-date version of Ubuntu, namely, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander. Follow the procedure explained in this guide to upgrade the Ubuntu 13.10 before the 27th.
