Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS Alpha 1 Released

Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS Alpha 1 (Trusty Tahr) has been released and is now available for download and testing. 14.04 Alpha 1 is available in various forms such as Xubuntu, Edubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, and UbuntuKylin. 

Ubuntu GNOME is a Linux Operating System for those who want to test the GNOME 3 desktop experience on an Ubuntu base. Ubuntu GNOME is a Live distribution which includes features such as the web browsing, email reading, and more. It supports both the 32-bit and the 64-bit architectures, and was distributed as Live DVD ISO images. 

According to a blog, Ubuntu GNOME Pre-releases are NOT recommended for:
  • Frequent users who are unfamiliar with the issues related with a pre-release
  • Anybody who wants a stable system
  • Anybody who feels unpleasant about controlling a possibly commonly broken system 
  • Any person in a production environment with the data or workflows that needs to be reliable 
 And it is recommended for:
  • Ubuntu GNOME developers
  • Regular users who want to help us test by finding, reporting, and/or fixing bugs

The official release of 14.04 is due in April whereas an alpha 2 will come in the late January and the first beta in late February. For more information on Trusty Alpha 1 release check out its release note.
