Windows Blue likely to bring back Start Button

Two of the most demanded features for Microsoft's current OS, the ability to boot straight to the desktop, and the Start button, may return with Windows 8.1, codenamed Windows Blue, according to The Verge

The Modern UI has proven controversial, with many users complaining the loss of the keyboard and mouse-centric desktop UI familiar to generations of Windows users. Microsoft experiments with new features all the time. Some succeed, some fail. But the new Windows 8 UI is too important to the future of Microsoft to relegate it to the back seat.

The expectation is that - if these features are destined for the final release -- there should be some indication in the next milestone; the Blue Preview appears, either by leaking or when the public version of the preview goes live at around June.

Windows Blue is expected to be released later this year.
