Creating Custom Action for SharePoint List using Designer 2010: Part I


In this article I am showing you how to create a custom Action for SharePoint list using Designer 2010

1. First of all you have to open the site Designer 2010 

2. Open your list, I have a list called Announcement I opened it

3. Once it opened. From the List Settings click on Custom Actions

4. Select List Item Menu

5. You will get a pop up as shown below

6. Give custom Action Name ,description

7. Here we have the following three actions
  • Navigate to a Form for this list 
  • We can Initiate a Workflow 
  • Or, we can Navigate to a URL
8. Here I am going with we Navigate to a URL,I discuss the remaining options in coming articles

9. I have a calendar list and I am just giving that url here

10. Click ok and Save the changes

11. Now you go to your list and click on any item you have (Menu)you can see the new menu Click here
