Windows Phone 8.1 Built-In Features That Don’t Exist in Android KitKat

Overview

I will tell you what the features are that you will get in Windows Phone over Android.

There are many improvemetns in Windows Phone 8.1. Personally I have felt the great enhancement in my Windows Phone after upgrading and also got the useful features that don't exist in Windows Phone 8 or even in the latest Android KitKat. But here I will open some great features of Windows Phone 8.1 comared to Android KitKat.

 Project My Screen

If you want to project your phone screen to an external display like a TV, monitor or projector then you can do it via USB Cable or wireless connection.

You can get this in Settings-> Project my Screen. You need to download an app for PC here (http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=42536) to connect it with your phone. After connecting My Phone to My PC, it will look a like:

You can change the settings to see the touch and also change the color of touch with screen orientation like here I am using the touch color "Amber" and screen orientation "Portrait".

Synchronize All Microsoft Devices

You can synchronize the same settings on all Microsoft devices like Windows Phone, Windows PC and Windows Tablet. Same settings mean:

  1. You won't need to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords
  2. You won't need to purchase your in-app content again
  3. You won't need to search your favorite websites again
  4. You won't need to select favorite themes again

 You can get this in Settings -> sync my settings.

Find my phone

This is a cool built-in feature of Windows Phone that will be enabled after creating an account on the Windows Phone website.
With this account you will some actions on the phone via account like:

  • You can track your phone location
     
  • You can Ring it if you have misplaced the phone
     
  • You can lock it with a message and a 4 digit pin number to unlock the phone
     
  • Erase the phone setting means erase the synchronization setting between phone and Windows Phone account.

Kid's Corner

It's a nice feature for those parents that want their child to only have access to a separate section of the mobile.

You can get this in Settings-> Kid's Corner. Use the following procedure to create a separate section.

  1. Click on the next button

  2. Select the facility that you want to provide to your child like here I have selected 1 game. Then click on the next button.

  3. Set the password on your main screen to restrict it from your child. It's optional. I have skipped it.

  4. Finish it.

    Now you swipe left the screen after locking it, here you have the Kid's Corner.

    As you can see here I have only one game, nothing else. You can also customize the Kid's Corner also with Kid Name, picture, background and color.

Set a Wallpaper on Start Tiles

You can set the background picture in start tiles from your gallary. You can get this in Settings-> start+theme.
