CW content coming to Apple TV without cable authentication

The CW television network has reportedly struck a deal with Apple to bring the popular TV show, among other programming, to the Apple TV. It currently has applications out for the Xbox 360 and Windows 8.

The CW said the ad-supported Apple TV app will function in much the same way as its Microsoft-centric counterparts, according to CNet, with no cable authentication required and full episodes available the day after first airing.

While the CW Apple TV app will be the first offered by a TV network, rumors have it that cable powerhouse HBO will be bringing a dedicated streaming service to Apple's device later this year.

According to the CW, the app is set to launch in the coming weeks, though no exact release date was given.
