Docker Partners With AWS

The partnership creates a streamlined workflow that enables programmers to migrate from running containers in a local Docker Desktop environment to Amazon ECS speedily and easily.

Docker recently announced a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to simplify developers' lives by allowing them to concentrate on the development of applications, streamlining the deployment and management of AWS containers from their local development environment.
The companies together have created an integrated and frictionless experience for programmers to leverage Docker Compose, Docker Desktop, and Docker Hub in order to deploy their apps on Amazon Elastic Container Service and Amazon ECS on AWS Fargate.

Docker and AWS have partnered to create a streamlined workflow that enables developers to migrate from running containers in a local Docker Desktop environment to Amazon ECS quickly and easily. This gives a simple way to operate highly safe and scalable production applications in Amazon ECS.
Docker said that its central goal is to build a route for developers looking for an easy way to start building apps in Docker locally and deploy them to Amazon ECS. Previously, the lack of this expertise has led to divergent strategies and increased awareness required to use virtually identical manifestations to deploy the same container workload locally and on Amazon ECS.
Other highlights of this solution include:
  • Programmers can leverage their Docker knowledge and the apps they have defined with Docker Compose to accelerate their ability to deploy in the cloud.
  • Native integration between Docker and Amazon ECS will enable you to more smoothly target Amazon ECS for your multi-container deployments.
  • As the Docker Compose is an open-source specification with open governance it will provide the wider community of new and existing users with transparency, enabling them input into the future direction of the specification as well as Docker Compose-based tools.
