Facebook Launches CatchUp

CatchUp Intends to bring back the phone calls among people.

Facebook 's NPE Team launched CatchUp, which is a free app that lets you see who's available to voice chat, and then enables you to launch both one-on-one and group calls within the app.

NPE said that it found in its studies that one of the main reasons people don’t call friends and family more regularly is that they don’t know when they are available to talk or are concerned they may reach them at an inconvenient time. CatchUp addresses this dilemma and even makes group calling as easy as one tap.

CatchUp allows you to indicate that you are available to talk and call close friends and family members who are also available in the app.

Also, with a single tap, the app makes it simple to organize or join a group call so users can catch up with many people at once. People don't have to have a Facebook account, or an account with another Facebook-owned company, to use it. CatchUp works by granting the app access to the contacts in your phone and builds your friend list from there.
