Final Chrome Release Of 2020 Is Out

This month's update renders the largest gain in Chrome performance in years.

Google announced the final Chrome release of 2020, which according to the company is faster for everything you need to get done.

Google said that this month's update represents the largest gain in Chrome performance in years. Chrome now prioritizes your active tabs vs. everything that’s open. This reduces CPU usage by up to 5x and extends battery life by up to 1.25 hours.

The browser now starts up to 25 percent faster, and loads pages up to 7 percent faster. It does all of this using less power and RAM than before. Now, when you navigate backward and forward, Chrome on Android now loads pages near-instantaneously, making these common tasks super fast.

This month's update is adding tab search to the toolbox. Users will now be able to see a list of their open tabs, regardless of the window they’re in, then quickly type to find the one they need.

This release is expanding what you can do in the address bar with Chrome Actions, which is a faster way to get things done with just a few keystrokes. For instance when you type “edit passwords,” or “delete history,” you can now take action directly from the bar.

Google said that it is starting with a few experiments in areas like cooking and shopping, and plans to add entertainment early next year.
