The company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Fitbit in order to drive innovation in wearables.

Recently, Google announced its definitive agreement to acquire Fitbit, a leading wearables brand.
 
Google said that though it has already made progress in wearables space with Wear OS and Google Fit, the company sees an opportunity to invest even more in Wear OS as well as introduce Made by Google wearable devices into the market.

Google said that by working together(with Fitbit’s team of experts), and bringing together the best AI, software and hardware, Google will help drive innovation in wearables and build products to benefit even more people around the globe.

The company said that it remains committed to Wear OS and its ecosystem partners, and is planning to work closely with Fitbit to merge the best of its corresponding smartwatch and fitness tracker platforms.
