IBM Announces LinuxOne

IBM is known for its Mainframe computers and its operating systems but IBM actually has been using Linux for years now. Recently, IBM teamed up with Canonical to build mainframes run by the Linux operating system. Canonical is a products and services provider related to Ubuntu.

IBM and Canonical combined is building a mainframe that will be powered by Ubuntu Linux operating system. The new system is named the LinuxOne. Not only this new system will be powered by Ubuntu but will also provide other open source projects and services.
