Linux Kernel 3.12.8 Released

Greg KH has announced the eighth maintenance release of the stable Linux kernel 3.12; Linux Kernel 3.12.8 is now available for download. The latest release is a small update compared to the previous maintenance releases. It has small improvements for ARM, PA-RISC, x86, many network fixes for both the IPv4 and the IPv6 and some updated drivers too. Installing Kernel 3.12.8 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pear OS and Elementary OS is easy since the necessary deb packages are available via
Greg Kroah-Hartman, in the official release announcement said, "I'm announcing the release of the 3.12.8 kernel. All users of the 3.12 kernel series must upgrade. The updated 3.12.y git tree can be found at: git:// linux-3.12.y and can be browsed at the normal git web browser:;a=summary."
After installing the Debs, all you need to do is restart your system and it’s done. If somehow this release doesn’t work properly for you, reboot into the previous kernel (Grub -> Advanced -> select previous kernel) and run the commands to remove the Linux Kernel 3.12.7.
