Microsoft Announces New Features And Enhancements Across Office 365

At the Ignite Conference, Microsoft has announced updates across Office 365, in order to help IT professionals drive digital transformation within their organizations.
Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president for the Office team, in the official blog states,
“Today, at Microsoft’s Ignite Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, we announced updates across Office 365 to help IT professionals drive digital transformation within their organizations. I was excited to showcase new intelligent cloud services that help make your employees more productive and your organization more secure. Here’s a breakdown of today’s key news, including new services for Office apps like Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as new security capabilities, richer communication features and enhancements for team collaboration across Office 365.”
New intelligent services in Office app
Microsoft brings more cloud-powered intelligent services to Office apps, which are specially designed to save you time and help you create better results.
Tap in Word and Outlook
You will now be able to find and use relevant content from within your organization, without the need to leave the document or email which you are editing. This is powered by Microsoft Graph, Tap surfaces documentations, presentations and spreadsheets, which are quite frequently used by you or made available by your co-workers. You simply need to click so as to incorporate desired elements from within those files, effortlessly integrating individual components such as images, slides, tables, charts and graphics. The content is pulled in with fidelity intact so you can now easily change table colors; add trend-line or legend to charts, edit text and many more. Tap is currently available in Word as well as Outlook, on Windows desktops for Office 365 Enterprise E3 and E5 subscribers in First Release for Current Channel.
QuickStarter in PowerPoint and Sway
QuickStarter is currently re-inventing the creation process, which would help you to conquer the blank canvas. This is powered by Bing Knowledge Graph, QuickStarter in Sway, and PowerPoint now provides you with carefully curated outlines for any topic, which goes on to include recommendations on information to be added, categories to consider along with associated images tagged with Creative Commons licenses. This would provide with a firm starting point so as to continue building the remaining of your presentation.
QuickStarter is now available in Sway on the web. Education customers using Sway now have a slightly modified version so as to meet the needs of educators. QuickStart in PowerPoint on Windows desktop and it will be made available by the end on 2016, for Office 365 subscribers.
Designer transforms text
Microsoft states that it is now easier to gain beautiful designs within minutes for several kinds of slides. Designer in PowerPoint can now go on to recommend professional design options for bulleted process lists. This expansion builds upon earlier Designer updates so as to incorporate facial detection, color extraction and more in images. The company informs us that additional categories of text will be supported in the near future, such as timelines.

Designer support for text is currently available in PowerPoint on Windows desktops for Office 365 subscribers in Office Insider Program. Designer support for text in PowerPoint on Mac will soon be made available for Office 365 subscribers.
Turn data into Maps in Excel
With the new Maps chart type in Excel; you will now be able to transform geographic data into professional visualizations. Maps in Excel would enable everyday users to create geographic data visualizations which earlier required the help of technical experts or expensive external products. This would go on to make it easier for you to identify insights, trends and opportunities in your data right in Excel, whether you are at school, work or home.
Maps in Excel on Windows desktops, Windows Mobile and Android will be made available at the end of 2016, for Office 365 subscribers.
Microsoft MyAnalytics
Microsoft states, “Create better work habits with the help of Microsoft MyAnalytics.”(Earlier, this was known as Delve Analytics.) MyAnalytics provides with the insights so as to help you understand how you will spend your time at work, across meetings, email, time you designate as “focus time” along with after-hours work. This way, you will be able to set productivity goals and monitor process over time. You will also be able to gain visibility into who you collaborate with the most. Microsoft also informs that in the near future MyAnalytics will go on to deliver insights to teams and Office 365 Groups so as to help them establish better ways of working together, uncover hidden inefficiencies and align on priorities.
Microsoft MyAnalytics is now available, without any additional cost for Office 365 Enterprise E5 subscribers.
Intelligence enhancements for security and compliance
Microsoft in its official blog states, that Office 365 enterprise subscribers will be better protected, detected and response to threats within their organizations with the new capabilities in the security intelligence area which the company has currently announced.
Improvements to Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)
The new ATP features helps in keeping your employees secure, without impacting productivity, URL Detonation analyzes suspicious links in a virtual environment, while Dynamic Delivery scans attachments for malware without delaying email delivery. The company is also building ATP to SharePoint Online and Office desktop apps. Security admins will now be able to explore threats and gather insights about attack with the availability of the new reporting capabilities along with correlate threats across the network with Windows Defender ATP integration.
Threat Intelligence
The Threat Intelligence would help you to proactively uncover as well as protect against advanced threats in Office 365. The Deep insight into threats, which is provided by Microsoft’s global presence, the Intelligent Security Graph and input from cyber threat hunters, will help you to quickly enable alerts, dynamic policies as well as security solutions.
 Advanced Data Governance in Office 365
Microsoft states that they are applying intelligence so as to make it easier to retain high value data and ensure the continuity of business, while at the same time reducing your overall risk profile. Advanced Data Governance would help you to achieve organizational compliance by leveraging machine assisted insights so as to help you find, classify, set policies on and take action on the data which is really important to your organization.

Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) improvements will be made available by the end of 2016, and Threat Intelligence along with enhanced Advanced Data Governance capabilities will be made available in the first quarter of 2017. All three will go on to be included at no additional cost in Office 365 Enterprise E5 plan along with the new Secure Productive Enterprise E5 offering.
Outlook is now powered by the Microsoft Cloud
Microsoft has update Outlook for iOS and Android, and now for Office 365 commercial customers, Outlook for for iOS and Android are now completely powered by Microsoft Cloud. This means that Outlook will now go on to support Exchange Online mailboxes natively, so that no mailbox data is cached outside of Office 365. The company states, “Our backend service has been automatically updated, so this change does not require an app update.”
Collaboration now smarter, more connected and effective
Microsoft has also announced several updates which would help teams and deskless workers to communicate, collaborate and stay connected more effectively.
Improvements to SharePoint
Microsoft is also expanding the power of SharePoint as part of cloud-first, mobile-first vision along with roadmap, which was unveiled earlier this year. New OneDrive sync capabilities for SharePoint sites and shared folders would help you to stay connected. The company has added richer people experiences such as those available in Outlook which would allow you to go beyond a co-worker’s contact details.
Team News helps you to communicate so as to keep your team informed, and you will be able to effortlessly manage business processes with deeper integration of Power BI, Yammer, Microsoft Flow and PowerApps. SharePoint team sites will soon be made available to every Office 365 Group, which goes on to include modernized lists, document libraries and pages. In addition to this, SharePoint mobile apps for Windows and Android put your intranet in your pocket.
Yammer integration with Office 365 Groups
Yammer will now boost team productivity by adding SharePoint team site and document library, OneNote, Planner and Outlook group calendar, (which is coming soon) to every group in Yammer.
Yammer integration with Office 365 Groups is available for Office 365 commercial customers.
Updates to Skype for Business
Microsoft informs that it is now easier than ever to move all your communication to Skype for Business. Skype for Business for Mac will be generally available in October.
Microsoft states,
“We’ve more deeply integrated the mobile experience, and a preview of translation and transcription capabilities will roll out in Skype Meeting Broadcasts by the end of 2016. The next generation of Skype Room Systems is also here, as is an expanded set of markets for PSTN services.“
Microsoft StaffHub
This is a new app which would go on to make it easier for managers to create teams, manage shifts schedules, and provide relevant information to their workers. For deskless workers, all their scheduled information, important communications, announcements and content is just a few taps away, on their mobile devices.
