Today, Microsoft unveiled the next generation of its Surface tablet, the Surface Pro 3 tablet, at an event in New York.

In an attempt to target Apple’s iPad Air, the presenter dropped the Surface Pro 3 on floor and showed its resilience with only small incidents.

To me, it is a big deal if I drop my tablet and the glass doesn’t crack just like that. I own an Apple iPad Air and while handling it a little carelessly, the glass cracked. I am still using my broken screen iPad Air. Why? Apple charges you $350 to replace the screen.

New the Surface Pro 3 is something that you can replace your laptop for. Panos Panay, corporate vice president said, the goal of the device is to "take away the conflict" between owning a laptop and a tablet.

With a 12-inch screen and a weight of just under 2 pounds, 0.36 inches thick, the Surface Pro 3 is much lighter and thinner compared to its predecessor Surface Pro 2 that was over 2 pounds and 0.53 thicker.

Surface Pro 3 has a 12-inch ClearType Full HD display, resolution of 2160 x 1440, 4th-generation Intel® Core™ processor and up to 8 GB of RAM. With up to nine hours of Web-browsing battery life, Surface Pro 3 has all the power, performance and mobility of a laptop in an incredibly lightweight, versatile form.
Surface Pro 3 comes with pre-installed Windows 8.1 Professional.  Surface Pro 3 has a rear and front facing camera of 5 megapixel, and Stereo speakers with Dolby® sound.
