Microsoft Open-Sources Team Explorer Everywhere

Microsoft is on a mission, a mission to change its image and its brand to the world. One of the initiatives Microsoft has been focusing on is open sourcing its software products to the developer community.

Microsoft has already open sourced many of its libraries and developer tools, including its popular developer framework, .NET framework, and its compiler and libraries.

Today, Microsoft open-sourced its plugin for Eclipse, Team Explorer Everywhere (TEE), for both Visual Studio Team Services and Team Foundation Server (TFS). The news was announced by Shanku Niyogi, GM Developer Division, during the keynote at EclipseCon in Reston, VA. Last week, Microsoft announced it has joined the Eclipse foundation to bring more tools to the community and also open-sourced the Azure Toolkit for Eclipse.

The software is available to the open source community on GitHub.
