Microsoft to bring Xbox and PC Games to iOS and Android

Microsoft will bring some of its PC and Xbox games to the iOS and Android mobile platforms, according to a report by CNet. Microsoft has signed a licensing deal with Klab, a Japanese smartphone gaming development company, to bring these titles to said mobile platforms.

The deal will allow Klab to develop Microsoft’s computer games so they can be offered on iOS devices in iTunes and Android devices in Google Play. Age of Empires, a popular strategy game, is set to be the first title for iPhone, launching by the end of fiscal year 2013 as a free-to-play title.

Microsoft also clarified that media reports included “incorrect” information about other Xbox Live-based games on iOS and Android. It said that “there are no further announcements beyond Age of Empires at this time”.

There are plans to release the game in other languages and on the Windows phone in the future, Microsoft stated.
