Nokia's WP8 Lumia Models Will Be Exclusive On AT&T

Nokia's new flagship Lumia phones will be exclusive on AT&T.

Information about where Nokia's Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 smartphones will fall in United States market has been a mystery until now. AllthingsD reports today that the new 4G LTE phones, which will run on Microsoft's Windows Phone 8, will be available exclusively on AT&T.

The price of the new Lumia models in the United States remains unknown, however indications from overseas show that as top tier smartphones, they will be priced on the high end. The Lumia 920 features a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ touchscreen, Nokia's mapping software, and a fully revamped camera.

The debut of the Lumia, slated for November, is a big deal for both Nokia and Microsoft as they continue to find their niche in the smartphone market. Nokia's choice to go with Windows Phone 8 was part of a strategy to differentiate from other phone makers and develop a partnership with Microsoft. Both companies face pivotal year-ends as their product launches will serve as a litmus test for the state of consumer interest.
