Oracle Acquires Corente

Oracle announced on its official website that it has acquired Corente, a specialist in software-defined networking (SDN) for WAN environments. No financial terms for the deal were disclosed.
According to Oracle officials, the acquisition will help Oracle customers to deploy cloud-based applications and services by allowing them to manage global private networks for secure connections to any sites and IP networks.
"Oracle customers need networking solutions that span their data centers and global networks," Oracle Chief Corporate Architect Edward Screven said in a statement. “Enterprises will be able to easily and securely deliver applications and cloud services to their globally distributed locations."
With Corente, Oracle is expected to deliver a suite of network virtualization products considering both the enterprise data center LAN (local area networks) and the WAN.
Overall, the Oracle is trying to position itself as a one-stop shop for cloud computing as well as plans to bundle software defined networking with this deal.
