Basically, it’s a combination of the old Azure Authentication and Authenticator apps which were available for the platform. Authenticator serves the purpose of signing into the personal Microsoft accounts; however, it was a Windows Phone 8.1 app.
In August, the company has gone on to launch Microsoft Authenticator for iOS and Android, promising that it will go on to show up for Windows 10 Mobile later this week. The full app is now finally available in the Windows Store as an update to the Azure Authenticator app.
However, if you are currently using the old Authenticator app for Windows Phone 8.1, it’s really important to note that you will need to download a new app. This should not come as a surprise that the iOS and Android apps will show as an update to the Azure Authenticator apps.
You will now be able to download Microsoft Authenticator or update your Azure Authenticator app from here.
