Windows 10 Technical Preview for Phones Released

Microsoft just released the Technical Preview version of its Windows 10 for Phone.

Microsoft just released the Technical Preview version of its Windows 10 for Phone operating system to the public, announced via a blog post by Gabe Aul. In the Windows 10 ecosystem and the going forward strategy, all Microsoft ecosystem devices including PCs, Tablets, Phones, XBoxes, and HoloLenses will be powered by Windows 10.

From the blog:

“I’m VERY HAPPY to be able to get a build out to you today that has this and allows Windows 10 to be used across a larger set of phones. This is definitely not the final list of devices, and we’re still hard at work to let people with other phones get hands-on with Windows 10 in the near future, including non-Lumia devices as well.”

Besides performance improvements and bug fixes, some of the new features in this release include:

  • Project Spartan
  • New Outlook mail and calendar apps
  • New Phone and Messaging apps
  • New People app
  • New Maps app
  • Updated App Switcher
