Xamarin.Forms 5.0 Is Out

Xamarin.Forms, version 5.0, stable release presents a big number of quality improvements; and new features such as App Themes, Brushes, RadioButton, CarouselView, and Shapes and Paths, and more.

Recently, Microsoft announced the latest stable release of Xamarin.Forms, version 5.0.

Xamarin.Forms, version 5.0, stable delivers hundreds of quality improvements; and new features including App Themes, Brushes, RadioButton, CarouselView, and Shapes and Paths, and more.

The Xamarin Forms team said that they have upgraded all their samples, and many of their own projects from versions of Xamarin.Forms going back as far as 3.5 with smooth sailing. To upgrade to 5.0 you are required to have Visual Studio 2019, VS 2017 is no longer supported. UIWebView has been removed to address Apple’s updated guidance; and MediaElement, Expander, and C# UI markup extensions have been moved to the Xamarin Community Toolkit library. Users are encouraged to install this NuGet and update their code accordingly.

The team said that solid and gradient Brushes, CarouselView, drag-and-drop, RadioButton, Shapes, and SwipeView inject new creative potential for your application designs to create beautiful, interactive experiences.
